Jog for Jill
Sunday, my sister and I joined 3,000+ others at Jog for Jill. A walk.run (sit.sprint.sprawl.crawl.dance.prance.stroll.cajole.saunter.meander.hop, skip or jump!) in Golden Gate Park to raise awareness and money for lung cancer research for the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. The jog was in memory of Cal Women's Crew, Jill Costello who was diagnosed with lung cancer June 6, 2009 and passed away June 24 of this year.
She was such an incredible, courageous and inspiring person. I feel so lucky to have met her and see her speak at the Cal Academic Honors luncheon in May. It's an incredible tragedy that she's no longer with us, but her spirit lives on and it was definitely present Sunday. There were so many people there, tons of Cal athletes, St. Ignatius students, Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters, and many, many, many others!
The event was the largest gathering for lung-cancer EVER and raised over $300,000! You can continue to make general donations here. Team Jill!
