Cal Men's Water Polo defeat Stanford 9-6 in the Big Splash

Cal asked for a photographer to be at the Men's Water Polo match vs Stanford as part of the Big "xyz" week surrounding the Big Game. It was also senior night. Normally we don't cover night games because the lights at Spieker Aquatics Complex aren't very powerful, but Big Splash and senior night is an important game to shoot.

Not only was it dark, it was freezing and rainy. I took a quick test shot with my newly fixed 16-35mm and it sums up the night.

Generally this is fun, but it created quite a problem with the steam coming off the pool!

So I tried to take advantage and get a little creative.

My favorite shot ended up being the scoreboard reflection on the water at this moment, cool!

Luka Saponjic had a crazy long backhanded score from seven meters out.

Cal won the Big Splash 9-6.

Afterwards, I joined K.C. and some friends at the women's volleyball game. Because Michael Pimentel was shooting it for GBS I got to revert to Cal fan. A little bit of a different view but great to see the Bears win! =)
