Cal State East Bay 50th Anniversary BBQ
Headed over to Cal State East Bay today for their 50th Anniversary barbecue for their athletics program.
It was a great event for families, friends, players and coaches to reconnect.
CSU East Bay President was there with his wife.
And spoke on reconnecting with the alumni/athletic community
Was cute to see this baby all squirmy.
Then kissed.
And suddenly he was happy!
I'm looking forward to covering more events for Cal State East Bay. Been missing the campus, and soccer field from when I photographed FC Gold Pride there last season.
Big thanks to Anna-Oleson Wheeler who I worked with at Cal who connected me to Kelly Hayes at CSU East Bay!

Cal Football defeats Presbyterian 63-12
Headed over to AT&T Park, but not for baseball. This time for Cal Football vs Presbyterian, but not for Cal or Presswire. This time for Presbyterian. Add that to Water Polo being played in McCovey... and it was a unique day indeed!
Cal Football is being played in AT&T Park while Memorial Stadium is under renovation. Though I am not covering CalAthletics for Golden Bear Sports, I have thankfully been able to find a way to photograph many Cal events through US Presswire, this game I was fortunate to be hired by Presbyterian College to cover the game for them through CollegiatePhotos.com
Though I love the fast paced environment of shooting editorially, I also really enjoy working for a team, providing coverage that tells the story of the game, but always puts the client/team you are working for in the best light. Sometimes it's a bit of a challenge when the team you are covering loses 63-12 on two touchdowns by the defense. But there were still plays in between to make Presbyterian look good!
Though I focused on Presbyterian, sometimes Cal overshadowed the play with Sean Cattouse's interception.
But Presbyterian also had some big defensive plays of their own, a blocked punt for a touchdown, and an interception for a touchdown.
I miss shooting at Memorial Stadium and there are some challenges to photographing games at a baseball park. But the challenge is mainly for the players who might lose their footing in the dirt, or kick up dust after trying to catch the two point conversion. So if they can adapt, I should be able to as well!
All in all, I'm happy to see my alma mater get a win, happy I was able to capture some nice images of Presbyterian that they were happy with, happy to be making progress with CollegiatePhotos.com and happy to be doing what I love =)

Santa Rosa Junior College Women's Soccer defeats City College of San Francisco 3-1
Headed over to CCSF today for the women's soccer game against Santa Rosa Junior College.
Also caught the head shots of two girls who weren't able to make it out last week. Interesting to note, was so overcast, didn't need anything to soften the light, and just used low power on camera flash, and they were nearly identical end result as the ones taken last week!
Though California community colleges operate independently of the national junior colleges (because there's so many, hurray for California and providing opportunities for continuing education!) apparently SRJC women's soccer is ranked highest in the nation at the moment.
CCSF put up a good fight against them and scored one goal, but couldn't come back from the three scored against them. It's still early in the season and this will be a great game to build off of in the future.
CCSF has an awesome, brand new, turf field, one they don't share with football or track which is nearly unheard of in community college sports!
And with a solid wall on one side and overlooking the city on another, it's a great place to photograph soccer!

City College of San Francisco Rams Women's Soccer Headshots
Headed over to City College of San Francisco to photograph the Rams Women's Soccer team headshots.
We were certainly dealing with some wind issues, but that can be slightly controlled with photoshop =)
Big thanks to their head coach, my buddy Gabe Saucedo, who helped connect me to CCSF and was also the guinea pig for lighting... good thing I picked up a translucent zip disk from Calumet on the way... perfect way to help flatten those harsh shadows on the face! Thanks to the staff and girls who helped hold it too!

New Zealand Rugby defeats USA Rugby All-Americans 23-20
Headed over to Steuber Rugby Stadium today catch the USA Rugby College All-Americans final stop on their tour against New Zealand.
After the National Anthems of both countries, the New Zealanders performed their traditional haka.
The game proved to be an exciting matchup with New Zealand barely pulling out the win 23-20.
Coming down to the final play...is that four against one?
If you thought the haka looked crazy cool before... after the game they repeated the haka shirtless. Amazing!!
